End of Season a damp squib!

Dear All What a wet end to the season. Its all a bit of an anti climax really. Well you just can't help the weather ! I speak for all that have worked with u7s this year in expressing just how enjoyable it really has been. I have met some fantastic children and also met some terrific people. I am thoroughly looking forward to next year and progressing the children's skills and enhancing their enjoyment. The coaches are meeting up at the end of the month to discuss next years program and where we think we could improve on last year. So watch this space. Team Manager Laura is stepping down, I must express my thanks for the huge effort that Laura has put in this far. Our new team manager is Jane Webster, a big welcome to Jane who I'm sure will make herself known to you.if you have any queries about next year please contact either myself or Jane at janewrugby@gmail.com. Jane has a lot of off season work to do not least to update the database to that end she has asked me to mention if you do NOT intend to join us next year. So just a short note I shall be posting further news as it happens . Kindest Regards Lee

Newbury Tomorrow and Weather!

Dear All

The weather looks dreadfull tomorrow! For those who were at Newbury and Beaconsfield this really would not be any fun at all. I have spoken with the club who are in support of cancelling, we shall post a firm decision at 1 pm today.

Selection and Tournanments

Dear All

Just thought I would put this together. Some of you may think that the selection is unfair or biased. We have very difficult decisions to make trying to fit a large amount of players in to a small amount of tournaments balancing availability, ability, coaching and refereeing logistics.

We are increasingly coming up against stronger players and we don't think it's fair for a significantly weaker side to be put against a very strong side and be throughly beaten. This would be very disheartening for the children so to that end we have to be carefull on selection.

Next year club fixtures have already been confirmed, something which us coaches have no influence over. My personal reaction to the fixture list is the "lack of tournaments". I have lodged this with the club and they have said that if I want more tournaments we can enter them so long as I fill the existing fixture schedule. I am currently on the hunt for A, B and C fixtures.

Just to make you aware, we have to send a referee, coach and manager (where poss) to each fixture and we don't think it's good for the club or children to send an inexperienced coach or referee. So if any parent feels they could help, please let us know.

The increase in tournanments will somewhat relieve the situation of players not playing in tournaments. We are also looking at on tournanment days doing a round robin competition either with Windsor and Bracknell who will be in the same position as us. All of this is subject to MRFC approval.

Next year we shall be taking the U9s model and setting up squad system where players will move in and out of squads subject to coaches meeting and review. We shall also be setting up a more efficient monitoring system. Please keep the faith!

Many thanks

Presentation Day

Hi All,

The club has taken the decision to cancel the presentation day this Sunday due to the weather.

The new presentation date will be 16th June starting at 13.15 and finishing at 15.15. That will give everyone time to pack up and get to the bar to watch England play South Africa!

This means that this Sunday will be our last full day of training in preperation for the last tournament of the season, for us! So whilst we will playing in the tournament on the 29th we will not be having a training session on that Sunday.

If you have any questions about any of these dates, please feel free to contact me.

Kind regards

Laura

Coaches Notes

Hi All

Great to be back. Last couple of weeks before the end of the season.

On Sunday as you all know it is presentation day. However we do have one more tournament to go, Newbury, which is on the 29th. Our plan is to do an hours training session in prep for that on Sunday commencing 10 am sharp. This will last till 11. Please can you let us know if you are NOT available for the tournament as we have entered two sides.

Another note, after Newbury MRFC are playing the in the Vets final with hopefully myself, Piers and a few other familiar faces playing. It'd be great for your support!

The coaches are meeting up shortly for a review of the season. We are planning a few changes, in particular bringing in a squad system. From next January we can also start to teach contact. This clearly has to be managed and planned correctly. Myself, the coaches, MRFC and the RFU will be planning this accordingly.

I shall put out a news letter outlining the next season, our plans and structure once the details have been finalised.

See you all Sunday

Kind regards

Lee
